No Mobile Phones
It has been brought to our attention that some children in Year 5 and Year 6 are bringing their mobile phones into school.
We would ask that you do not allow your child to bring a mobile phone to school on the grounds that it is a safeguarding concern, they are valuable and may be lost or stolen.
If a pupil needs to contact his/her parents/guardians the school phone can be used. If parents/carers need to contact children urgently they should phone the school office and a message will be relayed promptly.
However, we recognise that in Year 5 and Year 6 mobile phones may have a part to play in securing pupils’ personal safety before and after school and on journeys to and from school. If you feel that it is essential that your child needs to bring their mobile phone to school please contact the school for a permission form. The mobile phone must be handed into the school office upon arrival at school and collected at the end of the school day. Please note that the school accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage to a mobile phone whilst the device is on the school premises.
If a pupil is found taking photographs or video footage with a mobile phone of either pupils or teachers, this will be regarded as a serious offence. If images of other pupils or teachers have been taken the phone will not be returned to the pupil until the images have been deleted. The parent/carer will be contacted by a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
Under no circumstances will pupils be allowed to take mobile phones on school trips.
If you would like to discuss this matter with me, please do not hesitate to contact me.
