Our Sport Relief Day began with a whole school assembly where we discussed the purpose of Sport Relief and how the money raised is used to tackle critical issues affecting people across the UK and the world.
Sport Relief believes everyone deserves the right to live happier, healthier and safer lives. The children were particularly moved by the story about an 11-year-old girl growing up in South Africa who has been helped by Sport Relief money. The city’s streets are dangerous where she lives and children are at risk of being harmed. For this 11-year-old girl, Skateistan – a skateboarding after-school programme funded by Comic Relief – has been life changing. As well as learning how to skate in a safe, supportive environment, mentors at the project have helped her make fantastic progress in her schoolwork and develop new life skills.
Staff and children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a variety of sporty activities including yoga, tag rugby, circuit training, dance and an exercise class.
