The Local School Board exists for the benefit of the school and is responsible to the parents of every pupil. Our governors have a key role to play in helping Caythorpe to provide the best possible education for all of its children. The governors work closely with the staff to ensure that high standards of provision and attainment are maintained and improved.

The governors are very supportive. They give freely of their time to help improve the quality of education provided. Parents are represented on the governing body by democratically elected Parent Governors who are happy to hear your comments at any time. Each year the Governors organise a Parents’ Questionnaire to ascertain the views of parents about current issues; they also provide an annual report for parents.

Governor Meetings

By law the Governors must meet at least once a term. The minutes of Governors’ meetings are available for inspection in school.

Meet our Governors

Mr Simon Linforth - Chair of Governors

A husband and father to three school age children, I like many other parents know how important school life is to the family unit. Our youngest two children both attend Caythorpe Primary School, and our eldest in now well into her secondary journey at grammar school in Sleaford.

I have been a Governor at Caythorpe Primary School since 2014, and elected as Chair of Governors at the start of 2017. I have held responsibility for finance, pay & performance, Safeguarding and also Health & Safety during this time, giving me a varied insight into issues facing schools from both an operational and financial perspective.

I also act as a Trustee and the Treasurer for a local charity called Lincolnshire Down’s Syndrome Support Group or LDSSG (registered charity no. 1095603) since 2012, following my daughters diagnosis of Down’s syndrome at birth. As a committee member if I can do something to support the charities members and their families it will help me give something back.

Having worked in financial services, recycling and security companies for the past 15 years, I recently took on a new role as an Academy Operations Manager for a secondary school in another local MAT. My experience covers a variety of areas including Procurement and 3rd party supplier management, call centre operations, logistics, postal fulfilment, IT & telephony and management reporting. With such a wide range of skills and experience I believe I bring something different to the party that can have a positive impact on the organisation as a whole as we continue to develop, with the main focus on providing positive impacts for our pupils.

As a Governor at Caythorpe my aims are to ensure that all children have access to the highest quality of teaching and learning relevant and specific to their needs and ability. I hope that my business experience will benefit the school to utilise my skill set to develop and ensure best value for all of our pupils.

Mr Ken Bamford - Parent Governor

I am originally from Ollerton and currently work with Acas as a senior adviser following 22 years’ service with the British Army’s Royal Military Police, investigating alleged wrongdoing in a variety of criminal, civil and ECHR contexts.

I have also dealt with interpersonal conflict in some of the most hostile environments across the planet, crafting me into a highly experienced Mediator, Problem Solver and Negotiator.

I left the Army in 2017 and now work for Acas, helping organisations to optimise productivity through embedding smarter working practices and harmonising the employer / employee relationship across all business areas. I am also an MBA graduate who has been a company director twice, a franchise owner; and have been involved with several public, private and charitable sector organisations in non-executive and governance roles.

I am the founder and chair of the Acas East Midlands Education Forum and have a particular passion for working with education and business leaders to bridge the gap between modern education and the realities of modern work. I consider it an honour and privilege to volunteer as a school governor.

Helen Hunt - Staff Governor

After studying for my degree and QTS I Scarborough and Leeds, I began my teaching career working in London. After having my son, I returned to my home area of Nottinghamshire.

I have had opportunities to develop lots of areas within the schools I have worked in, including PSHE, PE, Phonics, Maths and Science and have taught all age groups in the primary age range.

I am passionate about teaching and learning as continue to extend upon and develop my practice. I gained my Maths Specialist Teaching certificate at Nottingham Trent University and am currently working towards my NPQH.

My role as Deputy Headteacher at Caythorpe gives me the opportunity to be part of the teaching, learning and assessment of all of the pupils as well as developing the teaching practices of staff and trainee teachers who work in our setting.

Gail Graham - Parent Governor

Gail has been involved with Caythorpe Primary School since her daughter started there in 2010; she now has a son attending.  Her career has predominately been spent in the not-for-profit sector and she currently works for a small Lincolnshire based charity as part of its senior management team.  This role provides an excellent background to serve as a Parent Governor, providing first-hand knowledge of governance and other relevant areas - financial budgeting, health and safety and safeguarding.

She has undertaken a variety of volunteering roles for over twenty years – predominately supporting youth group work which has included the Caythorpe Brownie pack and local preschool.  Her length of involvement at the school coupled with her volunteer ethos are strong motivations to offer her knowledge and experience to the LSB, helping to provide guidance, support and encouragement as a Parent Governor.
